24 weeks!

Feeling even more relaxed about this pregnancy now that I've hit 24 weeks. I know we are not in the clear until we have our baby girl in our arms. However, according to studies between 2003 and 2005, 50 to 70 percent of babies born at 24 to 25 weeks survive, and more than 90 percent born at 26 to 27 weeks, survive. Such a huge milestone so far. I don't have any risk factors for preterm labor but you just never know. Every pregnancy and every baby is different.

We started to move things out of the nursery to get ready to sand and paint. John was taking the old drapery and blinds down and we noticed the window and the trim around it is pulled away from the wall. After John inspected it, he thinks the whole window either wasn't installed correctly or needs to be reset. That room always seemed like the coldest room in the house. Now we may know why. So, we are waiting on a call back from the company who installed the window just 4 years ago and hopefully the repairs are covered under the transferrable warranty. Until then, we can still sand and maybe paint the 3 other walls until we can get that darn window fixed. If it's not one thing, it's another.

We are still shopping around for our last big furniture item, the dresser. We seem to be very picky about this piece of furniture. We have been to all the furniture stores and just haven't completely fallen in love with one. There are many that I like and would do, but we want to be sure it's the one. Especially since we will be using the top as the changing station as well. It needs to be the perfect height for us.

My last OB appt was September 4th. It was a pretty quick appt. Measured the fundal height of the uterus and we are measuring on track. Listened to the heartbeat. Baby girl didn't like it too much and kicked the doppler pretty hard. The doc laughed and said "well, she's done with that". It was cute! My total weight gain this far is 15 pounds which is also on track and no worries. I was happy with this since I gained 55 pounds with my first pregnancy. If I stay on track, I'm hoping to not gain more than 30 pounds. Especially since I started out about 20 pounds heavier this time around.

John, Morgan and I went camping Labor Day weekend with a guy John works with and his family. We camped rustic style in Manistee National Forest. No bathrooms or running water. THAT was interesting. It didn't really dawn on me what we signed up for until I had to go pee for the first time behind a tree at 23 weeks pregnant. A lot harder than I imagined. But we had a great time and it was much needed to get away before school starting, holidays and then baby. We visited Ludington beach, Manistee beach, Frankfort beach and Traverse City beach. Morgan was in heaven with all the swimming.

In general, everything seems to be flying by. Morgan started 4th grade on September 3rd. With school, her cheer practices & competitions and the upcoming holidays, I foresee the rest of the pregnancy just flying by.
